Student Highlights
- DDS student to faculty ratios in the clinic range from 5:1 to 7:1, depending on procedure and experience of students
- Launched new DDS curriculum transformation with earlier clinical experiences, immediate clinical application of knowledge and skills from pre-clinical courses, and support for continued clinical competence—increasing independence and "practice-ready" graduates
- Annual "Give Kids a Smile" event provided free dental care to almost 100 children

RESEARCH
$7.44 M total external funding for research, highest in history
#25ranking for NIDCR funding among U.S. dental schools
Research Highlights
- Achieved a record high with $7.4 million in total awards, more than doubling the $3.1 million from FY22. Of all awards, $4.7M (63%) were from federal grants.
- IUSD’s ranking in NIDCR Funding to Dental Schools rose to #25 among all US dental schools. This is the highest ranking IUSD has achieved since 2002.
- According to the Blue Ridge Institute of Medical Research, IUSD's ranking in dental school NIH funding advanced from 41st in FY21 to 24th in FY24, placing IUSD in the top third of the 73 dental schools in the United States.
- The Oral Health Research Institute has received over $2.56M in research grants from NIH and the oral care industry to support its clinical and laboratory research.
- IUSD faculty generated 127 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed dental journals.
- Two NIH F30 grants were awarded to PhD students—the first in school history.
